Colchester have announced the signing of Birmingham defender Will Packwood on an emergency loan deal.
Following the news on Monday that skipper Magnus Okuonghae is likely to miss the rest of the season with a ruptured Achilles tendon, U's boss Tony Humes has moved quickly to boost his defensive options. Packwood will remain at The Weston Homes Community Stadium until January 1 and is available for this Saturday's trip to MK Dons. To date, the American has made 21 first-team appearances for Blues since his debut in August 2012.
