Colchester have bolstered their attacking options with the capture of Michael Smith on a month's loan from Charlton.
The 21-year-old forward, who enjoyed a three-month loan spell at Newport earlier in the season, has made just one appearance for the Addicks this term in their Capital One Cup defeat to Leyton Orient in August. Smith signed for the Londoners in August 2011 from Darlington, where he scored six goals in 37 appearances. He has also spent time on loan at League Two side Accrington, helping Stanley defeat Gillingham 4-3 with a hat-trick in January 2012.
