No U's return for Antonio

Reading winger Michail Antonio will not be making a loan return to Colchester in January.

Antonio enjoyed a successful maximum three-month spell with the U's between August and November, making 16 appearances in all competitions and scoring four goals. But his involvement in and around Reading's first-team set-up since his return to Berkshire has quashed any hopes Colchester had of making another move for his services, with Antonio coming off the bench four times in the past month or so. United boss John Ward told the Green'Un: "I have spoken to Reading manager Brian McDermott about Antonio's position. But it doesn't look like Antonio will be coming back to us. That's not going to happen, which is fine. "Antonio has been in and around Reading's first team over the last few weeks. He's been on their bench, and they rate him very highly." Ward added: "In fact, there have been no developments on any ins or outs this month."
