West Ham have recalled striker Freddie Sears from his loan spell at Championship club Scunthorpe.

Striker's Scunthorpe loan cut short ahead of festive period

West Ham United have recalled striker Freddie Sears from his loan spell at Championship club Scunthorpe United. Sears had been on loan at Glanford Park since October and was due to stay with Ian Baraclough's side until 3rd January. However, ahead of the busy Christmas programme, Hammers boss Avram Grant has decided to bring the 21-year-old back to Upton Park. The forward failed to score in nine games during his time at Scunthorpe and could now be involved for West Ham against Fulham on Boxing Day. Sears had made just one brief substitute's appearance in the Premier League this season prior to linking up with Scunthorpe and has scored once in 33 games for the Hammers.
