Scunthorpe have agreed the extension of Freddie Sears' loan from West Ham until 3rd January.

Hammers forward staying with Iron until New Year

Scunthorpe have agreed the extension of Freddie Sears' loan from West Ham until 3rd January. Sears featured heavily for the Iron during his first month with the Championship club and will continue to be utilised at Glanford Park until the New Year. But any hopes of Scunthorpe landing the London-born striker permanently look unlikely as the Hammers retained their 24-hour recall on the 20-year-old front man. "I know Freddie has not scored but in the seven games he has played for us, he has been involved in half our goals," said Scunthorpe manager Ian Barraclough. "It's not just about putting the ball in the back of the net - and I am sure that will come for him. "I know fans will look back at the chance he missed last week against Cardiff - but that is not the Freddie I see every day. "You see him in training day in, day out and he has got all the attributes to be a top goalscorer."
