Dagenham physio John Gowens has praised Colchester's medical staff for their treatment of Romain Vincelot in midweek.
Vincelot suffered a head injury as he scored the equaliser in the 2-2 draw on Tuesday night, forcing the game to be held up for over six minutes as he was treated by staff from both sides.
Gowens said: "Romain Vincelot suffered a very nasty head injury. The injury happened when he scored the second goal. The game was at a standstill for around six minutes while we treated what was a very nasty gash to the side of Romain's head, around the temple area.
"The collision was with Magnus Okuonghae, one of our old players, and he was forced to leave the field as well.
"I would just like to add that I thought the Colchester medical staff were fantastic in how they dealt with the situation. They checked him over two or three times to make sure everything was fine.
"Romain was responding well to the questions that were asked of him at the time and later allowed to travel home. We will be monitoring how he is on a day-by-day basis."
