Colchester accept offer for long-serving defender

Colchester defender Pat Baldwin looks set to complete a permanent switch to Bristol Rovers. The 27-year-old centre-back impressed during his recent one-month loan spell at the Memorial Stadium and the Us have accepted an as-yet undisclosed offer for his services. Rovers chairman Nick Higgs told the club's official website: "The next step will be agreeing personal terms with the player, but we hope to see him in the squad for our next home match against Hartlepool in just over a week's time, or ideally the squad that travels to Huddersfield on Tuesday." The January transfer window is proving to be a busy time for Higgs, who is also keen for Chris Lines to sign a new deal. The midfielder has been linked with a move to Cardiff in recent weeks but Higgs is determined to retain his services. He added: "We are still waiting to hear back from Chris Lines and his agent after offering him and improved deal last week. "We hope this will be successfully concluded in the very near future."
