Colchester boss Aidy Boothroyd has predicted Magnus Okuonghae has a bright future in the game.
As revealed by skysports.com on Monday, the 23-year-old defender has signed a new deal with the Us which will keep him at the Weston Homes Community Stadium until 2012.
Okuonghae has been in impressive form for the League One outfit since joining them from Dagenham & Redbridge in the summer.
He has been an ever-present for Colchester in both league and cup - the only player to have started every single game for the club so far this season - and has skippered the side since club captain Pat Baldwin suffered an injury at Southampton in September.
Boothroyd told the club's official website, "I am very pleased that we have managed to secure him to a new contract.
"I think we have got a future star on our hands and he is in the right place to develop and grow his career."
