Colchester United are set to open talks with Magnus Okuonghae, skysports.com understands.
Despite only arriving in the summer from Dagenham & Redbridge, Okuonghae has made an outstanding start to his career in East Anglia.
Now it is understood a host of clubs from the Premier League and Championship, are keeping close tabs on the Nigerian-born central defender.
But Colchester are aware of the interest and new manager Aidy Boothroyd is a huge fan of Okuonghae, who he recently handed the captain's armband to in Pat Baldwin's absence.
Okuonghae is believed to be enjoying life under Boothroyd, who will now be hoping the 23-year-old will prolong his current deal which is due to run until 2011.
