Wycombe Wanderers have rejected a six-figure bid from Colchester United for defender Mike Williamson.

Us manager Paul Lambert is looking to improve his defensive options and has pinpointed a player at his former club.

Lambert spent two years working with Williamson at Wycombe and is keen to be reunited with the centre-half at Colchester.

The League One club have confirmed making an offer for the 25-year-old, but it has been swiftly knocked back by Wycombe.

According to Wycombe, the bid is the same as the one Colchester made in November, which was also turned down.

Meanwhile, teenage defender Lewis Christon has left Wycombe after his contract was cancelled by mutual consent.

The 19-year-old came through the ranks at Adams Park and made nine first-team appearances - the last of which was in December 2007.
