Clive Platt has signed a new contract with League One outfit Colchester United.
The U's also revealed that they had rebuffed a bid for the striker's services from one of their division rivals.
The former MK Dons man agreed to extend his stay at the Community Stadium on Thursday and is expected to feature in the club's first league game at their new stadium, against Huddersfield on Saturday.
Colchester chairman Robbie Cowling is delighted to have secured the services of the talented 30-year-old forward.
"We have fended off a £400,000 bid from one of our League One rivals for Clive Platt, and he has now committed himself to our club by signing a new and improved contract," he told the club's official website.
"Within our means we are doing all we can to attract the very best players and staff to Colchester United.
"We are also doing our best to hold on to our players, who all too frequently are attracting interest from other clubs."
