Colchester have completed the loan signing of Cardiff defender Chris Barker.
The 26-year-old is available for Saturday's trip to West Bromwich Albion, and will spend the rest of the calender year at Layer Road.
Boss Geraint Williams has been frustrated in his attempts to add to his squad prior to the transfer deadline on August 31.
But the capture of Barker will come as a welcome relief to a side who have lost their first three matches following promotion to The Championship.
Williams hopes Barker's savvy and experience - the stopper played 45 times for The Bluebirds last term - will bolster his emerging team.
