FA Cup round-up

Tamworth were the giant killers of round two, whilst Chester defeated higher oppostition.

Tamworth were the giant killers of the FA Cup second round, defeating Hartlepool United 2-1.

The Conference side took the lead on 33 minutes thanks to Jake Edwards before Matthew Redmile doubled their lead three minutes after the restart.

Chris Llewellyn pulled one back via the penalty spot (52), however Tamworth held on to go into the pot for the third round draw.

League Two side Chester City eased past 10-man Nottingham Forest 3-0.

Gary Holt saw red for Forest and the resulting penalty was slotted home by Ryan Lowe (40). Lowe (pictured) then added a second five minutes after the break to set up the victory which was sealed by Marcus Richardson (55).

Non-league sides Nuneaton Borough and Histon will both have their names in the hat after their 2-2 draw.

The Conference North side took the lead through Matt Collins (35), however Histon went straight up the other end to equalise thanks to Leon Gutzmore's strike (36).

Having gone behind, the Conference South side found themselves in front just before half time, Nathaniel Knight-Percival adding the second (44). Nuneaton were level after 52 minutes thanks to a penalty from Brian Quailey to set up the replay.

Walsall overcame Yeovil Town in the all-League One tie thanks to a penalty from Matt Fryatt (18) and Jorge Leitao's strike late on (83).

Stevenage Borough earned a replay against league opposition Northampton Town after a 2-2 draw at Broadhall Way.

George Boyd gave the home side an early lead (5) and it took until the 67th minute for Northampton to equalise through Pedj Bojic. The League Two side looked to have snatched it through Scott McGleish's penalty (82) however Anthony Elding forced a replay with a strike a minute later.

Lee Steele's goal on 66 minutes sent Leyton Orient into the third round at the expense of fellow League Two side Rushden & Diamonds.

Another all-League Two game between Cheltenham Town and Oxford ended in a 1-1 draw.

Stephen Guinan (14) put the home side ahead before Eric Sabin equalised after 52 minutes.

Conference sides Aldershot Town and Hereford United both fell to league opposition, Scunthorpe United and Stockport County respectively.

Scunthorpe scraped through thanks to an early goal from Andrew Keogh (14), whilst goals from Jermaine Easter (3) and Mickael Wolski (57) were enough for Stockport.

A brace from Tony Bedeau helped Torquay United overcome Notts County 2-1.

Bedeau put Torquay ahead on the stroke of half time before Lewis McMahon pulled the sides level (54) for a short period before Bedeau scored his second to send the home side through midway through the second half.

Colchester United and Milton Keynes Dons both snatched away 2-1 victories.

Colchester took the lead on 23 minutes through Jamie Cureton but David Edwards equalised on half time for Shrewsbury. Chris Iwelumo's 52nd minute goal eventually sealed victory for the League One side.

Strikes from Izale McLeod (pen, 16) and Gary Smith helped MK Dons into the third round over Southend United. Freddy Eastwood had the sides level for a brief period but MK Dons came good in the end.

Two ties involving League One sides ended in 1-1 draws.

Barnsley and Bradford will try again after Richard Edghill's strike (82) cancelled out Paul Hayes' goal (43).

Oldham will travel to Griffin Park to replay their tie with Brentford as well.

Andy Liddell's penalty put Oldham ahead (57), however Sam Sodje saved Brentford (65).

The game between Conference side Woking and Northwich Victoria of the Conference North ended goalless at The Kingfield Stadium.

The game between Burton Albion and Burscough was postponed due to a waterlogged pitch.
