Colchester United boss Phil Parkinson has denied that he is ready to mount a bid for Darlington striker Alun Armstrong.
The former Ipswich and Middlesbrough hit man has been strongly linked with a summer switch to Layer Road but this suggestion has now been refuted.
Darlington boss Dave Hodgson had previously stated that Armstrong had been offered a deal by the League One outfit but according to Parkinson, this is far from the case.
''Alun was a player we were looking at earlier in the season when we needed an experienced forward,'' Parkinson told the club's official website.
''However, we've got Marino Keith on the books now and I have made no approach for Alun in the past few days.''
Meanwhile, Parkinson has informed Jamie Cade and Joey Keith that they will not be having their contracts renewed.
