Colchester United have appealed against the timing of manager Phil Parkinson's two-match touchline ban.The former Reading player was sent off during last month's goalless draw at Port Vale, with the Football Association informing the Layer Road boss that he would need to serve his ban from May 2.
It means Parkinson could not be on the sidelines for their last match of the current campaign against Torquay United and the first match of next season.
The U's, however, have appealed to The FA to shift Parkinson's two-match ban to be served before the season's end.
"We accept that Phil has to serve this ban, but we feel that as the offence took place in this season, it is only right it is concluded before the end of the 2004/5 fixtures," Colchester chief executive Marie Partner told the club's official website.
"It is over a month since the Port Vale game and it seems fairer that Phil serves the ban within the current season and we are awaiting news on The FA's decision."
The League One club, meanwhile, will be hosting a number of trialists in a specially-arranged friendly match on Wednesday, as the club look for new faces for next season.
In a similar match last term, The U's discovered current first team member George Elokobi, and Parkinson will be hopeful to find another potential prospect this time around.
Wednesday's match will feature the Dulwich Hamlet duo of Cedric Neeko and Asher Hudson while youngsters from clubs like Derby County, Fulham and West Ham United should also appear.
Joe Keith will also make a run-out following his loan spell at League One rivals Bristol City.
