Hull City strengthened their position in the League One automatic promotion spots with a 1-0 win over Hartlepool.

Stuart Elliot's 14th-minute strike at The KC Stadium gave Peter Taylor's side the three points that moved them to within three points of leaders Luton.

More importantly for The Tigers, they now have a ten-point cushion over Sheffield Wednesday in the second automatic promotion slot.

Bournemouth stay in the final play-off spot but their chances of staying there took a blow after they were beaten 3-2 at home by Blackpool.

Keigan Parker opened the scoring for the visitors in the opening minute, before Brian Stock levelled for The Cherries six minutes later.

Shaum Maher put through his own net to give The Seasiders a 2-1 lead, before Parker grabbed his second, and Blackpool's third on 51 minutes.

James Hayter made it 3-2 in the final minute from the penalty spot but it was too little too late for Bournemouth.

Port Vale and Colchester played out a goalless draw at Vale Park, in a game where there were three red cards.

Liam Chilvers saw red on the stroke of half time when he collected his second yellow card, but the ten men frustrated the hosts.

Vale's frustrations boiled over when Michael Cummins was also sent off, and substitute Levi Reid was dismissed with eight minutes left to play.
