League One round-up

Luton Town had to settle for a 1-1 draw with improving Sheffield Wednesday.

Luton Town remain top of League One on goal difference after coming from a goal down to draw 1-1 with Sheffield Wednesday.

The Owls took the lead into the break at Kenilworth Road when on-loan Kenwyne Jones scored for Paul Sturrock's side.

Steve Howard, however, earned a point for The Hatters with an equaliser two minutes after the restart.

That result in Bedfordshire allowed Hull City to move level on points with Luton after Peter Taylor's Tigers came from a goal down to defeat Yorkshire rivals Huddersfield Town 2-1 at The Kingston Communications Stadium.

Chris Brandon gave Peter Jackson's Terriers the lead five minutes before the break, but Hull drew level two minutes later through the prolific Stuart Elliott.

Aaron Wilbraham (pictured) secured all three points for the Humberside outfit with a second goal four minutes after the break.

Tranmere Rovers remain third after being held to a 2-2 draw by Oldham Athletic at Boundary Park.

Ryan Taylor gave Rovers the lead eight minutes before the break from the penalty spot before Oldham levelled two minutes later through Adam Griffin.

Iain Hume restored the visitors' lead seven minutes after the break before The Latics earned a valuable point when Scott Vernon scored mid-way through the half for the home side.

A Steve Fletcher hat-trick gave Bournemouth 3-2 victory over Brentford at Dean Court.

Fletcher's strikes (5, 35, 58) were enough to seal the points on the South Coast, despite Isaiah Rankin's second half brace for The Bees.

Danny Forrest's second half strike gave Bradford City a 1-0 win at struggling Port Vale.

Hartlepool United stay just outside the play-off places on goal difference after a goalless draw at Barnsley.

Two goals in four first half minutes gave Bristol City a 2-0 win over Barry Fry's struggling Peterborough United at Ashton Gate.

Stephen Brooker gave The Robins the lead on the half hour mark before Paul Heffernan made it two four minutes later to ensure the West Country club are a point adrift of the play-off places.

Swindon Town's chase for a play-off place was dented by a 3-0 home defeat to Colchester United.

First half goals from Gavin Johnson and Neil Danns, along with a third goal from Richard Garcia just after the break, gave The U's an important win in Wiltshire.

Chesterfield needed a late Ian Evatt strike to earn a 1-1 draw at Milton Keynes Dons after Allan Smart had given Danny Wilson's side the lead with a penalty five minutes in.

Walsall came from a goal down to earn a 1-1 draw with Doncaster Rovers at The Bescot Stadium.

A Julian Bennett own-goal gave Donny the lead on 11 minutes before Michael Standing earned a point for The Saddlers ten minutes later.

Stockport County's hopes of getting off the foot of the table were boosted by a late 2-1 victory at Torquay United.

Kevin Hill gave The Gulls the lead on the stroke of half time before Chris Turner's side turned the match around in the second half with two goals from Richard Lambert.

Lambert levelled two minutes after the break for The Hatters before earning his side the points in South Devon with a penalty a minute from time.

Finally, Blackpool have pulled out of the bottom four with a 2-1 win at fellow strugglers Wrexham.

Chris Llewellyn gave The Dragons a half time lead before a second half brace from John Murphy (64, 77) gave Colin Hendry's side a big win in North Wales.
