Plymouth Argyle are four points clear at the top of Division Two following a 2-0 away win at Bournemouth.

Paul Wotton and David Norris scored the goals for Paul Sturrock's side at Dean Court.

Queens Park Rangers lost ground on the leaders following an entertaining 3-3 draw with struggling Notts County.

Paul Heffernan scored a hat-trick for The Magpies while QPR got goals from Steve Palmer, Kevin Gallen and an Ian Richardson own-goal.

Brighton & Hove Albion eased their way past lowly Wycombe Wanderers in an early Boxing Day kick-off at The Withdean Stadium with a 4-0 victory.

The Chairboys spent most of the match a man short after Roger Johnson was sent off for using foul and abusive language after 16 minutes.

That prompted Mark McGhee's men to take a 2-0 half time lead with goals by Richard Carpenter and John Piercy.

Chris McPhee then made it three for The Seagulls four minutes after the break before Piercy scored his second to make it 4-0.

Two minutes later, Wycombe's day was made worse as Canadian international Mark Rogers was sent off for a second bookable offence to leave the visitors with just nine men at the end.

Bristol City came from a goal down at Brentford to take all three points in South West London with a 2-1 victory in a noon Boxing Day kick-off at Griffin Park.

Substitute striker Leroy Lita was the hero for the West Country club, as his two second half goals in the space of five minutes solidified Danny Wilson's squad's position in the play-off positions.

Following a 0-0 first half, The Bees took the lead on 63 minutes through Ben May before Wilson decided to switch Lee Miller up front with youngster Lita on 73 minutes.

Four minutes later, Lita equalised for The Robins before going on to score the winner five minutes after that, as the visitors ran out victorious.

Colchester United drew 1-1 with Luton Town at Layer Road. Scott McGleish scored for The U's while Lee Mansell equalised for The Hatters.

Port Vale heaped more misery on Sheffield Wednesday with a late 3-2 victory at Hillsborough.

Adrian Littlejohn, Billy Paynter and Stephen Brooker scored the goals for The Valiants while The Owls replied through Mark Robins and Graeme Lee.

Paul Barrett scored with two minutes left to give Wrexham a 1-0 victory at Stockport County.

Blackpool defeated Tranmere Rovers 2-1 with goals by John Murphy and Simon Johnson. Simon Howarth replied for the visitors at Bloomfield Road.

A brace from Onandi Lowe saw Rushden & Diamonds beat Swindon Town 2-0, as The Robins had Rory Fallon sent off for serious foul play.

Grimsby Town and Oldham Athletic drew 3-3 at Blundell Park. A brace from Phil Jevons and a single strike from Michael Boulding were cancelled out with goals by Oldham's Jermaine Johnson, Ernie Cooksey and Scott Vernon.

The Mariners also had Anthony Crane sent off for serious foul play.
