CARDIFF CITY'S hopes of automatic promotion suffered a massive blow as Queens Park Rangers snatched a late 2-1 victory at Ninian Park.
Former Chelsea striker Paul Furlong put the visitors ahead on 64 minutes but the Welsh outfit seemed to have rescued a point when Peter Thorne thundered home a header from a corner with twelve minutes remaining.
However, with just one minute left on the watch Richard Langley (pictured) popped up to lash home a last-gasp winner to silence the home crowd.
Oldham maintained their promotion bid with a hard-fought 2-1 victory over Barnsley.
Wayne Andrews gave Iain Dowie's men the perfect start when he netted with just 4 minutes gone.
The Tykes fought back and levelled some 17 minutes later when David Mulligan notched, but the hosts wrapped up the points eleven minutes after the break when Joshua Low found the net.
Play-off chasing Luton Town and Tranmere played out a drab goalless draw at Kenilworth Road in a result which did neither team many favours, while the game between mid-table Plymouth and Colchester also ended 0-0.
Brentford staged an impressive fightback at Griffin Park to claim a point from their home game with Cheltenham.
The Robins moved two goals ahead in the first-half with strikes from Grant McCann (penalty) and Martin Devaney.
But the hosts reduced the arrears on 63 minutes through Michael Dobson and claimed a share of the spoils when Kevin O'Connor levelled with twelve minutes left.
Swindon Town claimed a point from their trip to Peterborough as Danny Invincible struck a second-half leveller to cancel out Tony Shields opener ten minutes before the break.
Notts County recorded a comfortable 3-1 home triumph over Blackpool though the visitors did take the lead.
Paul Robinson netted after 35 minutes, but The Magpies roared back and goals from Paul Heffernan, Craig Ireland and Nick Fenton ensured they took the points.
Stockport County eased their relegation fears with a stunning 4-1 away triumph at Wycombe.
All of the visitors' goals came in the last 12 minutes, as Luke Beckett, Gordon Greer and Aaron Wilbraham (2) got on the scoresheet.
The Chairboys had taken the lead five minutes past the hour-mark when Michael Simpson netted.
Port Vale clinched a narrow away win at struggling Mansfield Town with veteran hit-man John Durnin claiming the all-important goal on the stroke of half-time.
Meanwhile rock-bottom Huddersfield did themselves a power of good by thumping Chesterfield 4-0 at the Alfred McAlpine.
Martin Smith and Jonathan Stead both grabbed braces in a victory which drags the visitors dangerously close to the relegation dogfight.
