Stoke City chairman Peter Coates has confirmed the club have spoken to Barcelona forward Bojan Krkic and is confident of getting the deal done.

Bojan, who became Barcelona's youngest-ever player at 17 years and 19 days, has struggled to make an impact at the Nou Camp in recent seasons and spent last term on loan at Ajax.

Coates has revealed Stoke boss Mark Hughes has held talks with Bojan and is hopeful that they can bring the 23-year-old to the Britannia Stadium in a loan deal.

"Mark has met with the player and we're quietly confident of getting it all completed soon," Coates told The Daily Telegraph.

"Attacking players have been very much the focus for Mark since the end of last season and obviously Bojan would be another very good addition."

If Stoke land Bojan it will be something of a coup for the Potters with a number of other clubs thought to be in the running for his signature.
