Mark Hughes' first home game in charge of Stoke will be a friendly against Italian side Genoa on August 10.
The Britannia Stadium will play host to a high-profile friendly for the first time in four years just a week before the Potters open their Premier League campaign against Liverpool at Anfield.
"We were approached by a number of European clubs about the possibility of playing at the Britannia Stadium once we made it clear we would be staging a pre-season game at home," chief executive Tony Scholes told the club's official website.
"Mark Hughes felt that Genoa would provide the right test at this stage of our build-up."
The game will be preceded by a trip to face Wrexham at the Racecourse Ground on August 4.
