Sky Sports understands Wolves are planning a transfer deadline day move for Stoke midfielder Glenn Whelan.

Stoke are thought to be open to offers for Whelan following the arrival of Charlie Adam from Liverpool.

Whelan could find his first-team opportunities limited and the player is considering moving on in search of regular first-team action.

Stoke have money to spend following the sales of Matt Jarvis and Steven Fletcher and Stale Solbakken is keen to bring Whelan to Molineux.

The Republic of Ireland international, who joined Stoke from Sheffield Wednesday in January 2008, is now considering his options with Wolves hoping to add him to their squad as they look to mount a bid for promotion back to the Premier League.
