Potters winger will be forever thankful for manager's support

Matthew Etherington has once again thanked Tony Pulis for helping to keep his career on track, with the winger determined to keep repaying his boss. Stoke manager Pulis has stood by Etherington throughout his troubles off the field, with the Potters having helped him to shake a gambling habit which almost cost him everything. Etherington will be forever grateful for the support shown to him by Pulis and Stoke during a difficult period in his personal life. He is now looking to continue churning out eye-catching performances on the field, with stability in his private life having helped the 30-year-old to play a leading role in the Potters' recent success. "Tony Pulis has been brilliant for me," said Etherington.

Faith

"He has shown a lot of faith in me and I'm delighted I have so far been able to repay that faith. "I don't want to keep going on about what's gone on in the past, I just want to move forward with my life and my career. "But I will never forget what he did for me, bringing me to the club and helping me develop. "He's worked wonders for this club and it is credit to everyone at Stoke City that we are where we are. This is a progressive club. "We still have a chance at Valencia, I thought we deserved a result, but it's important we now focus on a different challenge."
