Stoke winger defends Potters' style of play

Matthew Etherington has defended Stoke City's style of play in the wake of Sunday's victory over high-flying Tottenham. The 2-1 triumph at the Britannia Stadium, which ended Spurs' 11-game unbeaten run in the Premier League, was overshadowed by referee Chris Foy's performance. Spurs boss Harry Redknapp has been warned as to his future conduct by the Football Association after his post-match comments in which he criticised the official. And not for the first time, City came under fire for their brand of football, with winger Etherington's second goal of his match-winning brace coming from a long throw.

Get on with it

But Etherington told The Sentinel: "We play a certain way at times and it works for us. "But look at the game on Sunday. There were times when we got the ball on the floor, but people don't notice that. "We have good players. We wouldn't do what we are doing without good players. "But we'll get on with it and let people say what they want."
