Schalke general manager Horst Heldt says the club could look to the Netherlands during the January transfer window amid speculation linking them to several Eredivisie players.
Reports in Germany suggest the Bundesliga club are tracking VVV Venlo youngster Ahmed Musa and Heerenveen duo Luciano Narsingh and Oussama Assaidi.
Heldt has refused to confirm any of Schalke's targets but has not ruled out bringing in players from the Dutch top-flight.
"We are always interested in finding good new players for our team," Heldt told Reviersport newspaper.
"We are keeping our eyes open and it is true that the Dutch league is a competition we have our eyes on."
Schalke have a long tradition of recruiting players from the Netherlands but the only Dutchman currently in the squad is striker Klaas-Jan Huntelaar.
