German club swoop for FC Twente youngster

Marko Arnautovic has signed with Werder Bremen from Dutch champions FC Twente for an undisclosed fee. The 21-year-old striker was loaned out to Inter Milan last season but did not make enough impact on the treble winners to earn a permanent place at the San Siro. However, Bremen have snapped up the Austrian international on a four-year contract. "We are delighted to have reached an agreement in our negotiations with Twente," said Bremen's director of sport Klaus Allofs. "Marko Arnautovic has a lot of potential. We expect him to play a major role in our team."

Challenge

Arnautovic, who will link up with his new colleagues for pre-season training on 5th July, is looking forward to a fresh challenge. "Werder is renowned for its successful work with young players," said Arnautovic. "I can see a great chance to take the next step in my career here. I cannot wait for training to start in a month." Viennese Arnautovic made 44 appearances for Twente, but was only used three times by former Inter coach Jose Mourinho last term.
