Lokomotiv Moscow have claimed that Haminu Dramani will not be allowed to join Stoke until the end of the Russian season.
The Ghanaian international has been training with The Potters over the past week ahead of a move to The Britannia Stadium.
Stoke confirmed earlier this week that they had a agreed a season-long deal for the 22-year-old with a view to a permanent deal.
A work permit was all Stoke appeared to be waiting for, but now Lokomotiv have said that they will not be letting Dramani leave until the end of November - when the Russian season ends.
"Dramani remains with Lokomotiv until the end of the season," stated Lokomotiv president Nikolay Naumov.
It now remains to be seen whether Stoke can push through a deal as the move would have to be put on hold until January if it could not be completed before the transfer window close on 1st September.
