Stoke have appealed against Andy Griffin's sending off at Norwich at the weekend.
Griffin was shown a straight red card by referee Paul Taylor for a challenge on Norwich midfielder Youssef Safri.
Stoke boss Tony Pulis felt the dismissal was harsh and he has lodged an appeal with The Football Association.
"In my opinion Andy went for the ball and got it, and it was the reaction of their player which prompted the referee to act," said Pulis.
The FA will decide on Thursday whether to rescind Griffin's dismissal, but the defender faces a three-match ban if the appeal is rejected.
