Stoke City manager Tony Pulis wants youngster Adam Rooney to go out on loan, despite a striker crisis at the club.
Rooney has come off the bench on many occasions this season, but has yet to find the back of the net.
The 18-year-old made a sparkling start to his Potters career, scoring a hat-trick on his debut against Brighton last season.
Pulis hopes to send Rooney out on loan not only to gain experience, but also to build the striker's confidence.
"Adam could do with going out on loan without having the pressure on him that he has at the moment," Pulis told The Sentinel.
"People say I am over-protective, but it's important he comes through this period with his confidence intact.
"Too much can be expected of him too early and that's not fair on him."
