Brighton & Hove Albion chairman Dick Knight has rebuffed suggestions that youngster Joel Lynch is on his way to Stoke City.

The Potters were rumoured to have agreed a £500,000 fee for the defender, with Lynch set to join the Championship side in January on a three-year deal.

However, the League One club have moved quickly to reject suggestions of an imminent departure for the 19-year-old.

Lynch recently penned a contract extension with Brighton through to 2010 and Knight insists the youngster's future is with The Seagulls.

"He's going to be at this club for a long time," Knight told the Argus.

"We have not agreed to sell Joel to anybody. We've had no approach and even if there was, he isn't going anywhere."
