Stoke have snapped up Cardiff midfielder Jeff Whitley on loan.
Whitely will spend the next four months at The Britannia Stadium.
The 27-year-old had dropped down the pecking order at Cardiff and the club were willing to let him go out on loan.
The former Northern Ireland international goes straight into the squad for Saturday's clash with Luton.
Potters boss Tony Pulis was delighted to bring in the tough-tackling midfielder.
"Jeff is a very competitive player and he's a winner," Pulis told the club's official website.
"He's won promotion from our division twice before with Sunderland and Manchester City and so he knows his way around and he'll add some extra bite and competition for places in our midfield.
"He's coming to Luton with us and will be in the squad, but we'll have to see whether he plays a part in the game."
Meanwhile, Pulis confirmed he will not offer a deal to trialist Aliou Cisse.
The former Portsmouth man had been training with Stoke, but Pulis has decided not to pursue his interest in the Senegal international.
