Dusan Tadic feels it was a beautiful day for Southampton as they claimed their first Premier League victory over Manchester United at Old Trafford

Old Trafford hero Dusan Tadic is confident Southampton can qualify for next year’s Champions League, following the club’s return to form in recent weeks which culminated in Sunday’s victory over Manchester United.

The 26-year-old Serbian, one of 10 signings by new manager Ronald Koeman last summer, scored the only goal which saw Saints return to third spot in the Premier League table at the expense of United.

Southampton’s 1-0 triumph was their first at United since 1988 and Tadic says a top-four finish is more than a possibility: "The season is long but we have a great belief," he said.

"We have beaten Arsenal and Manchester United and they are direct opponents for what we want to achieve. That's really important.

"We just need to believe in our skills and to see what is good and what is not good, and to keep going.

"We played really well and well and deserved to win against them at St Mary’s but we didn't get three points. Now we did get three points even though maybe we don't deserve to."

Regarding his yellow card for removing his shirt after scoring, he added: "You never think about the celebration. I don't know why I do that, but it doesn't matter. It's important that we are all happy."
