Saphir Taider is to leave Southampton just three weeks after moving to the south coast on a season-long loan from Inter Milan.

The 22-year-old midfielder joined Saints on August 6 with a view to signing a permanent deal next summer in a move which saw club-record signing Dani Osvaldo go the other way.

But having been an unused substitute in all three of Southampton's matches this season, Taider is heading back to Italy having failed to settle in England or meet manager Ronald Koeman's expectations in training.

The Algeria international is reportedly set to complete a move to Sassuolo, although his departure does not affect Osvaldo's loan deal at Inter.
