Mauricio Pochettino felt Southampton deserved their victory over Everton despite being gifted both goals in the 2-0 success.
Everton were the masters of their own downfall as own goals from Antolin Alcaraz and Seamus Coleman proved to be enough to gift Southampton the three points.
Despite the manner of the two goals, Pochettino insisted Southampton deserved their good fortune after dominating for long proceedings of the game.
"It's an anecdote that those two goals were own goals. I think we created the chances to make those own goals happen," noted Pochettino
"I felt overall we had a great game.
"I want to congratulate the players because they had an amazing game against a team that is trying to break into the Champions League and into the top four.
"Overall my team played a great game."
