Southampton boss Mauricio Pochettino felt his side paid a heavy price for making basic defensive mistakes which cost them the chance to beat Premier League leaders Arsenal.
Jose Fonte's first-half goal was cancelled out by Olivier Giroud and Santi Cazorla but Adam Lallana denied Arsene Wenger's side three points.
Saints' defeat at the Emirates Stadium earlier this season triggered an alarming run that brought just two wins from their previous 11 league games.
And Pochettino admitted a few lapses in concentration cost them a famous win over the Gunners.
"The team were sensational tonight and I actually though that we deserved to get the three points," the Argentine told Sky Sports.
"In the second half we didn't start so well and conceded two quick goals.
"We did make some mistakes against Arsenal and against a side like Arsenal, that's a heavy price to pay.
"I would highlight the fact we were able to get back into it - we showed amazing character."
