Southampton have completed the signing of Uruguayan star Gaston Ramirez in a club record deal.
The transfer is said to be worth £12million and brings to an end a long-running saga for a player who was also targeted by Liverpool and Tottenham Hotspur.
Negotiations were thought to have broken down between Bologna and Southampton on several occasions in the past but an agreement has now been reached.
Bologna said in a statement on their official website: "Bologna announce to have reached agreement with Southampton for the definitive transfer of Gaston Ramirez."
Southampton also confirmed the signing of the Uruguay international midfielder on a four-year deal and manager Nigel Adkins was very pleased with the move.
He said: "There is a lot of ambition at the football club and we are all delighted that Gaston is going to come and join us.
"Great credit to everyone because we have a young, exciting talent joining us who is one of the best around.
"The chairman has gone and backed this deal big-time with the financial outlay, and what we have got is one of the most exciting prospects in world football coming to St Mary's.
