Doncaster Rovers manager Dean Saunders has confirmed the club have accepted an offer from Championship rivals Southampton for Billy Sharp.
Sky Sports revealed earlier on Monday that Sharp was undergoing a medical at St Mary's as he prepares to leave Doncaster before the close of the transfer window.
Saunders said: "We have accepted a deal for Billy from Southampton and he is having a medical now."
Sharp rejected a move to Leicester City earlier in the transfer window after the Foxes had activated a release clause in his contract.
However, it appears that the chance to work with Saints manager Nigel Adkins again is likely to sway Sharp into leaving the Keepmoat Stadium before Tuesday's deadline.
The 25-year-old played under Adkins at Scunthorpe United prior to rejoining Sheffield United in 2007 and he will end the Saints chief's search for fresh firepower.
Adkins has been trying to boost his attack all month and, in addition to being linked with Huddersfield Town hot-shot Jordan Rhodes, saw bids to sign Celtic's Gary Hooper rejected.
Sharp has scored 10 goals in 20 Championship appearances this season and netted the only goal when Doncaster beat Southampton at home in early December.
