Japan international Tadanari Lee has agreed terms with Southampton and will finalise the move subject to a medical and work permit application.

The Championship leaders have confirmed that Lee is now in England and training with them ahead of his proposed switch.

Skysports.com revealed a deal was in the offing last week, and now the 26-year-old striker is set to join the Championship side on a two-and-a-half-year contract.

The Sanfrecce Hiroshima man flew into London on Tuesday and will train with the club at their Staplewood training base whilst the application for the work permit is reviewed before January 12.

"The league is so competitive. I hope I can contribute to the team anyway I can," Lee told the Mainichi Daily.

The 26 year-old, who has been capped 10 times by his country, finished third in the J-League scoring charts this past season with 15 goals in 32 appearances for Sanfrecce.
