Saints miss out on defender
Bristol City have confirmed that Liam Fontaine remains with the club following transfer talks with Southampton.
Skysports.com revealed on Tuesday that the Saints had made a move for the Robins defender.
Nigel Adkins was keen to land the 25-year-old in an effort to help his side maintain their impressive start to the new season.
He has, however, missed out on a top target.
Fontaine met with the Saints to discuss a move, but no agreement has been put in place.
He has now returned to Ashton Gate and City are happy to have him back.
A club spokesman said on the Robins' official website: "Liam remains a City player and is very much a part of our squad."
