Dan Harding has signed a new contract at Southampton that will keep him at the club until 2014. The utility player has been instrumental for the Saints as they have made a promising start to life in the Championship. Harding, 27, is the latest in a line of players that includes Kelvin Davis, Rickie Lambert, Aaron Martin and Lee Barnard to sign fresh terms with the club. "I'm absolutely delighted," he told the club's official website.

Massive buzz

"I'm really pleased to be part of the club for the next three years and I'm genuinely very happy at signing the new deal. "There's a massive buzz at the moment from the chairman and the manager, the coaching staff and the playing staff - they're all doing a fantastic job and I'm really proud to be here." Saints boss Nigel Adkins is glad the contribution that Harding has made to the team's success in recent years has been recognised. He added: "He was terrific for us last season as well and I'm really pleased to keep him here and so many others as well for the long term."
