Southampton boss Nigel Adkins insists he will be patient over the return to fitness of Adam Lallana and Dean Hammond.
The pair both missed the 0-0 draw with Notts County and although Adkins is hoping they are not too far away from a return, he insists he will not rush them back before they are ready.
He told the club's official website: "They are two good players and we expect them back sooner rather than later.
"We have excellent medical staff and the most important thing is to get the right diagnosis.
"It's very common to get a clinical examination and also get several different scans done so you can get the right treatment and the right rehabilitation programme.
Speaking specifically on Lallana, Adkins added: "Like any key player, missing him for one day is too long so you have to get it right."
