Defender's patience is rewarded
Michael Svensson has completed his remarkable return from injury by signing a one-year deal with Southampton.
The Swedish defender saw a succession of knee problems keep him sidelined for almost three years.
However, he was back in competitive action for the Saints on the opening day of the season against Cardiff and has been rewarded with a new contract.
The deal will initially run for 12 months, although there is an option to extend that agreement by another year should both parties wish to do so.
"I'm very happy everything is now sorted and I can concentrate on playing," he told the club's official website.
"I have always remained positive throughout my rehabilitation period and the knee feels fine after last week's match."
