Queens Park Rangers have boosted their struggling squad by swooping to sign Inigo Idiakez on loan from Southampton.
The 33-year-old only arrived at St Mary's in the summer, but has fallen down the pecking order of late and manger George Burley has allowed him to head out on loan to Loftus Road.
R's chief John Gregory has expressed delight at wrapping up the capture of Idiakez on an initial one-month loan.
"Never in my wildest dreams did I think that he would become available," Gregory told the club's official website.
"He can be an outright match-winner on his own, and if he helps us to stay up, could quite easily become a legend in a very short space of time."
In other news, Danny Guthrie has told parent club Liverpool that he wants to stay on loan at Southampton for the rest of the season.
Guthrie's deal runs out at the end of March and he said: "Southampton are a massive club who belong in the Premiership, and I hope I can help them to get there."
