Southampton have accepted Hull City's revised offer for David Prutton.

The midfielder was the subject of a bid from his home-town club earlier in the week, but Saints knocked back the offer.

Hull have gone back in with a second bid for Prutton, who has made just four appearances for Southampton this season after returning from injury.

The Tigers' latest offer has met Saints' demands and Prutton will now discuss a move to The KC Stadium.

"The second bid we made has been accepted and we have been given permission to talk to him," said Hull boss Phil Brown.

With Prutton out of contract at the end of the season, Southampton manager George Burley is leaving a decision in the player's hands.

Burley said: "I have spoken to David and he is aware of the interest.

"He wants first-team football, so we will see how it goes."
