David Prutton says he will stay and fight for a new contract at Southampton.
David Prutton says he will stay and fight for a new contract at St Mary's.
The 25-year-old midfielder made his first appearance for Southampton since April as a second half substitute in the 4-2 win at Hull on Saturday.
Prutton, whose contract expires next summer, has not played this season due to an ankle injury.
"It's a case of play as much as you can," Prutton told the Southern Daily Echo.
"You can't look beyond where you are at the moment because if we don't concentrate on the present nothing happens in the future.
"If I can get back in the team and hold down a place that's down to me. Whatever happens happens in the future.
"I love it here. I want to stay. The situation is just play as much as you can for the club you're at which is somewhere I love playing and it's somewhere I want to keep playing."
