Dyer signs new deal

Southampton have handed a new contract to highly-rated winger Nathan Dyer.

The 18-year-old has impressed this season, both for The Saints and previously during a loan spell with Burnley.

He was recalled ahead of schedule to St Mary's from his stint at Turf Moor following a string of bright displays - and now he has been rewarded for his recent progress.

"Southampton are a big club who belong in The Premiership and I want to help them get back there," Dyer told Stellar Group's website.

"It has been a difficult season for the club but we are now back on the right track and the manager (George Burley) has now got everyone pulling in the same direction.

"We still have some very good players here and I am sure we will be a force to be reckoned with next season."
