Brann eye Saints stopper

Sources in Norway are reporting that Brann are keen on Claus Lundekvam.

Sources in Norway are reporting that Brann are keen on bringing Southampton stopper Claus Lundekvam back to his homeland.

The Bergen outfit have agreed terms with Wigan to sell Austria international Paul Scharner in the new year and are now looking to bolster their squad.

Norway international Thorstein Helstad from Rosenborg is another target, although a move to bring Lundekvam back to the club when his contract with Southampton expires at the end of the season has been strongly mooted.

Club director Per-Ove Ludvigsen admits they are on the lookout for reinforcements, with the money from Scharner's sale going towards the improvement of their playing ranks.

"A sale of Paul (Scharner) under these conditions will give us the possibilities to strengthen the side with other players," Ludvigsen told the club's official website.
