Walsall have signed Southampton youngster Andrew Surman on a month's loan.

The 18-year-old (pictured) arrives at The Bescot Stadium after coming through the ranks at St Mary's, where he became the club's youngest-ever player to appear in Saints' reserves as a 15-year-old.

Despite his progress with the South Coast club, Surman has yet to appear in the Southampton first team.

The midfielder is expected to appear for The Saddlers when they host Huddersfield Town on Saturday.

The news of Surman's arrival comes as the Black Country club have penned young goalkeeper Dean Coleman to a professional contract.

The 19-year-old has signed a deal until the end of next season with Paul Merson's side after progressing through the youth ranks at the club.

Another player to return for Saturday's match against The Terriers is midfielder Kris Taylor, who has been called back from his loan spell with Conference club Burton Albion.
