Norwegian outfit Lyn are thought to be close to securing the capture of Southampton's Jo Tessem, who has been told he is surplus to requirements at St Mary's.

The forward has been training with the Oslo-based side in the past few days but is yet to finalise his move from the South Coast.

Lyn boss Espen Olafsen has spoken of his desire to conclude a deal before the transfer window closes.

''Tessem has trained with us the last few days and we hope to get him before the transfer window closes,'' confirmed Olafsen.

''But there is still some work to do with Tessem's club Southampton.''

The player concedes that he too is unsure as to what his future holds.

''Nothing has been cleared,'' said Tessem.''I have just arrived from a trip to Southampton.

''We had some meetings where we discussed different solutions but it seems hard to manage.''

However, Tessem did confirm that contrary to speculation, he has not held talks with Nottingham Forest.

''Joe Kinnear says he has spoken to me but that is nonsense,'' he concluded.

''I have not spoken with him.''
