Walsall have extended the loan of Southampton defender Chris Baird by another month at The Bescot Stadium.

Saddlers boss Colin Lee brought the young Northern Ireland international to the Black Country club after a poor run of results in September.

He has had a regular run in the first team with the Division One outfit following his rise to prominence with The Saints last season.

Baird was pleased to extend his stay at Walsall and hopes to earn more first team experience with the Midlands club.

"I have thoroughly enjoyed the past month," Baird told the club's official website.

"I have been generally pleased with my performances and look forward to it continuing over the month ahead.

"The lads here have really made the settling in process easy and everyone is working hard to help us move up the table.

"The main thing for myself is to play regular first team football as that can only help with my development.

"The First Division is a very good standard and far better than playing in Southampton's reserves, so I am relishing the opportunity to stay here longer and help Walsall climb up the table."
